Description

This Thai tea mix is the base for cha yen, the tall, iced, milky glass of Thai iced tea. The ground Assam tea brews a deep amber-orange, turns creamy and pale when milk goes in, and tastes malty and rounded, with a sweetness close to vanilla. Choose Original Red, Extra Gold or the No Color Added version in the menu above; each one comes in a 400 g bag.

How to make it

Use about 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup (240 ml) of just-boiled water. Steep for 5 minutes, then strain through a cloth filter or a fine mesh strainer. Stir in sugar while the tea is hot, pour it over a tall glass of ice, and finish with evaporated or sweetened condensed milk. The full recipe is in How to Make Thai Iced Tea.
