Thai Tea Caffeine Calculator
Short answer: a 16 fl oz cafe-style Thai iced tea has about 60–130 mg of caffeine, and an 8 fl oz home-brewed cup of Thai black tea about 30–70 mg. Thai botanical infusions have 0 mg. Pick your drink, cup size and brew strength below for an estimate.
Estimates are scaled in proportion to cup size from the reference servings in the table below. Real caffeine depends on the leaf, how long it steeps and how strong the concentrate is.

Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in Thai iced tea?
A 16 fl oz cafe-style Thai iced tea has about 60–130 mg of caffeine. A home-brewed 12 fl oz glass poured over ice with milk has about 25–50 mg, because the ice and milk dilute the same brew.
Does Thai tea have more caffeine than coffee?
Usually less. An 8 fl oz cup of Thai black tea has about 30–70 mg, while the same size of drip coffee has about 80–120 mg. A large cafe Thai iced tea (60–130 mg in 16 fl oz) can come close to a small coffee.
Is there a decaf Thai tea?
If you want no caffeine at all, choose a Thai botanical infusion such as butterfly pea, lemongrass or bael. These contain 0 mg because there is no tea leaf in them. Our Thai Botanical Infusion is caffeine-free.
Does Thai milk tea have the same caffeine as Thai iced tea?
Per ounce, roughly yes, because both are usually made from the same strong concentrate. A 20 fl oz bubble-tea-shop Thai milk tea has about 75–160 mg simply because the cup is bigger. Tapioca pearls add no caffeine.
How accurate is this calculator?
It gives a range, not a lab measurement. The figures come from typical brews and are scaled in proportion to cup size. Actual caffeine depends on the leaf, the steeping time and the strength of the concentrate; for instant mixes, check the sachet label.
